This last month has been full of travel and conferences! There was the WWGSD unconference and then ITx 2016 – a conglomeration of 12 tech conferences over 3 days that really was great to attend.

I got up on stage for ITSMF and banged on about how important it is to do a digital review, and how much time you can save by setting aside a little time to save big in the long run. And I also really enjoyed Vinh Giangs’ ‘magic show’ which was funny, pointed and entertaining.
It was really cool to see Watson and get an introduction to the new world of cognitive computing – I have a few ideas here, but I wonder what the kids from Code Club could think up??? On that note, Congratulations to Michael Trengrove for taking out the Excellence in Education award for his work with Code Club Aotearoa. Well done! and also, a huge congratulations to Victoria MacClennan our 2016 Excellence in IT Awards, New Zealand IT professional of the year.

I wanted to share with you these two slides from presentations at ITx, the first is a list of open source tools that Catalyst IT have been using and contributing to over the years and the second is a list of tools that PledgeMe have used in their operation.

Kaila was exceptional on stage – and if you get a chance to go to Singularity University in Christchurch later this year, then DO IT! I think CCC are even sponsoring a few tickets, so see if you can get your hands on them.
Until next time!
